Fourth of July 2009

I'm hoping that everyone is having a safe and happy Fourth of July! At least somebody is because it's been raining all day here. Worst Fourth ever. I can't
remember any 4th of July, since I've been on this Earth, that it's rained. No, wait...I take that back...POURED.

At least the rain held out for the parade. It just pretty much drizzled the entire time, which was EXTREMELY annoying since I kept having to wipe of my camera. We brought our two big golf umbrellas, but we didn't use them.

We woke up early to get a good spot for the parade, drove downtown and parked in the parking garage, walked to Dunkin Donuts on Kirkwood and got two lg. Hazelnut Iced Coffees and 25 Munchkins, and found a bench to pop a squat. I don't think I've been to a parade in 10 years (minus that little St. Patrick's Day parade that was pretty much a couple of Irish Dancers and three Bagpipers), so it was definitely fun to go!

Here are some pictures I took of the parade, in no particular order...

Mini-Firetruck

Do you see the guy driving?! This truck was the coolest...he kept blowing his horn just like the big rigs!

These guys were funny too! I missed Clinton, he was on the other side of the truck.

Love this one too.

I really do want one.

This was at the start of the parade, right before the Boy Scouts carrying the flag.

Politician

This little pony got mad when the driver stopped, started pawing the ground, so cute!

Roller Derby Girls

Save the Hives! There really is a serious problem people!

Yellow Fire Truck

Pretty Work horses

I'll take it!

Uncle Sam

He's cute, and he knows it! Support the Troops!

Gotta have a tractor!

Everybody loves a sidecar dog!

Segway Cop

He was a nice segway cop.

Lowell enjoying his DD waiting for the parade.

High Bike! Some guy on the other side of the street told him to do a wheelie and we all thought he was going to fall, but he did one! Granted it was for like a second, but it had to have been hard!

Hazardous Rescue Team (for meth labs??) Why would Bloomington need a Hazardous Rescue Team?

Boy Scouts carrying the flag.

Flag girls (weren't very good as you can tell)

Fire truck!

I forget this dog's name! Anyone know?

Monroe County Fair Queen

Dark Carnival

This guy was CRE-E-E-PY!

Not sure who these people are, but there were a lot of them, and very colorful.

Lowell's favorite part of the parade.

I love old cars!

The cute little boy who was next to us.

Guys on weird bikes.

Biker cop.

Boys with high bikes.

Bloomington South High School Band

I love bagpipes, and guys in skirts!

More bagpipes!

American Renaissance 2009 (whatever that is)

All in all, it was kind of a weird parade. There was only one high school that participated, and lots of weird organizations. Munster has a much better, and well organized parade (but then again Munster is pretty Republican, and Bloomington is totally Democrat), so I guess that would explain a lot.

I suppose I could have posted the photos into two posts, because there's a lot of them, but I hope you like them anyway! More to come soon! I love summer because of all the happenings going on and all the chances to take photos!

Until lata...
